Fried Chicken!

Today’s lunch is fried chicken!

ree

Here are the ingredients!

· 1- 4 pound chicken- cut into 10 pieces

· 3 tablespoons of salt

· 3 cups of flour

· 2 tablespoons of garlic powder

· 2 tablespoons of onion powder

· 2 tablespoons of red chili flakes

· 1 tablespoon of freshly ground black pepper

· 4 cups of buttermilk

· 2 tablespoons of hot sauce

· 5 cups of vegetable oil

· 5 cups of water-for the brine

· 5 tablespoons of salt- for the brine

· 5 cloves of garlic- left whole

· 5 fresh pieces of rosemary

First, I put all the chicken in a large glass bowl and covered the chicken with the 5 cups of water and added the salt for the brine. I covered it and let it marinate in this overnight.

The next morning, I added the buttermilk and hot sauce to a large bowl, added the chicken, covered it, and let it sit in the fridge for about 6 hours.

When it was time to cook, I mixed the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and red chili flakes on a large platter. I removed the chicken from the buttermilk and hot sauce mixture and dredged them in this seasoned flour mixture.

Next, I filled a large deep pot with the 5 cups of vegetable and added in the garlic and rosemary. I heated the oil on medium high heat until it reached 350 degrees.

I fried 3 pieces at time, for 12 minutes each time then let them dry on a paper towel. I did not make a side for this because I did not want tons of leftovers.
